What do I do as a doula? Whenever I tell somebody I’m a doula, I usually get the same questions. People have mistakenly thought I’ve said “jeweller” and been disappointed when they learn that actually I can’t create a little item for them to treat themselves for their birthday! Some people ask if I’m a birth or death doula. When I explain my role, people often ask if I’m a midwife! Obviously that’s the easiest way to understand what I do, so I say “yes, I just don’t do the clinical side”. But for some people who need me, and know very quickly that they want me in the room when they give birth, me NOT being a midwife is one of the things that makes them certain.

There are some incredible midwives out there. I’m blessed to call some my friends. Others I just follow on Instagram, haha! But there are many midwives who are less “with woman [or birthing person]” than they are “with the system” and allow the system to dictate to you what your labour and birth experience is like. So this is where I’m different. I hear what the system is telling you and I ask you what you want. I don’t offer any guarantees, but I’d rather start with your version of your dream birth experience and work from there, than go along with the system ( and against the evidence and your intuition).

I include hypnobirthing as standard, for you and your birth partner, and if you’ve learned hypnobirthing tools before I offer refreshers because I’ve learned that not all hypnobirthing courses are the same. If you’re going to rely on hypnobirthing tools in labour I want you to be ultraconfident that your birth team knows them too.

Many of my clients come to me having experienced previous birth trauma, I can’t make all that disappear but I can help you work through fears and be with you as you put things in place for a more positive experience.

If you want to get excited for labour and birth, if you want to enjoy yourself in labour, if you want the homebirth of dreams, get in touch. These are all things that my clients have said after or during working with me. The feedback speaks for itself. Get in touch, let’s have a chat, there’s no commitment to having a conversation with me. For hypnobirthing support, I work with people wanting any kind of birth. Previous clients have had planned caesareans. My doula birthkeeper support is reserved for homebirth and midwife-led birth centre births. Drop me a voice message or an email, whatever works for you. Let’s see if we are a good fit before we work together on your dream birth.
